Anda Rottenberg, Proszę bardzo

Niedobra samarytanka

Nie przepadam za biografiami i w zasadzie nie czytam tego typu literatury. Czemu więc sięgnęłam po książkę Andy Rottenberg Proszę bardzo, wznowienie autobiografii wydanej początkowo przez WAB w 2009 roku? Po pierwsze, lubię oszczędny styl autorki. Po drugie, pozycja wyszła w 2021 roku w wydawnictwie Marginesy i rzuca na kolana starannością wydania i wysmakowanym, odważnym pięknem okładki. To była miłość od pierwszego spojrzenia.

Utraciłam smak

Książka dokumentuje losy rodziny pisarki i jest jednocześnie próbą odnalezienia własnej tożsamości. Ojciec autorki był Żydem, matka Rosjanką, a rozliczni krewni rozsiani są po całym świecie. Skomplikowana genealogia udokumentowana jest dużą ilością zdjęć członków rodziny, ale nie oferuje żadnego podsumowania czy drzewa genealogicznego. Zresztą nie po to się czyta tę książkę. Przeplatającie się rozdziały pokazują na przemian losy rodziny Rottenberg i krewnych oraz poszukiwania syna Mateusza. To właśnie część poświęcona dziecku szczególnie mnie poruszyła, pokazując walkę matki o odnalezienie dziecka, ale też walki o samo dziecko. Mateusz był narkomanem, zaginął i zmarł w 1997 roku, ale jego tożsamość została ustalona dopiero w 2008 roku. Rottenberg pisze o tym już chłodno, szczerze i otwarcie, ale jej wspomnienia podszyte są bólem. To stanowi siłę tej książki.

Utraciłam cierpliwość

Proszę bardzo pozwolilo mi uświadomić sobie, po co w ogóle sięga się po biografie, a już w szczególności po autobiografie. Kiedy słyszy się o nietuzinkowej postaci, zasłużonej dla polskiej kultury i sztuki, część osób od razu sie zastanawia, jaka była jej droga na szczyt. Tymczasem Rottenberg pisze o sobie z dystansem, trochę usuwa się w cień, praca natomiast zostaje odsunięta na drugi plan. Na pierwszy natomiast wysuwa się rodzina, a zwłasza relacja matki i syna, opisana w zdystansowany sposób. Pisarka nie ukrywa swoich błędów, słabości, niemocy, wątpliwości i problemów. Jest bardzo ludzka, odważna, otwarta i bezkompromisowa. Dzieli się swoim doświadczeniem, spostrzeżeniami, kodeksem postępowania. Swoimi przekonaniami i wartościami. Od Andy Rottenberg można się naprawdę sporo nauczyć, więc jestem wdzięczna Autorce, że zechciała dać czytelnikowi wgląd w swój świat.

Utraciłam ciekawość

Autobiografię Rottenberg czyta się bardzo dobrze, chociaż jest to lektura, do której trzeba podejść niespiesznie, cierpliwie, powoli. Tylko w ten sposób można docenić jej stonowane piękno, spokojną narrację, wybrać istotne szczegóły. Dla mnie pozycja, do której z pewnością będę wracać.

The Bad Samaritan

I don't really like biographies and I don't really read that type of literature. So why did I reach for the book by Anda Rottenberg There you go, a new edition of the autobiography initially published by WAB Printing House in 2009? First of all, I like the author's frugal style. Secondly, the book was published in 2021 by the Marginesy Publishing House and brings you to your knees with the accuracy of the issue and the tasteful, bold beauty of the cover. It was love at first sight.

I lost my taste

The book documents the fate of the writer's family and is at the same time an attempt to find her own identity. The author's father was a Jew, her mother was Russian, and numerous relatives are scattered all over the world. Complicated genealogy is documented with lots of photos of family members, but offers no summary or family tree. This is not what this book is for. The intertwining chapters show the fate of the Rottenberg family and relatives as well as the search for the author’s son, Mateusz. It was the part devoted to the child that touched me especially, showing the mother's struggle to find him, but also the struggle for the child itself. Mateusz was a drug addict, went missing and died in 1997, but his identity was not established until 2008. Rottenberg writes about it coldly, honestly and openly, but her memories are streaked with pain. This is the strength of this book.

I lost my patience

It made me realize what a biography is used for, and an autobiography in particular. When you hear about an extraordinary figure of merit for Polish culture and art, some people immediately wonder what her way to the top was. Meanwhile, Rottenberg writes about herself with distance, she steps back a little, while her work is pushed completely to the background. The family is on the foreground, especially the mother-son relationship, described in a distanced way. The writer does not hide her mistakes, weaknesses, doubts and problems. She is very human, brave, open and uncompromising. She shares her experience and code of conduct, as well as beliefs and values. You can learn a lot from Anda Rottenberg, so I am grateful to the author that she wanted to give the reader an insight into her world.

I lost my curiosity

Rottenberg's autobiography reads very well, although it is a reading that must be approached slowly, and patiently. This is the only way to appreciate its subdued beauty, calm narrative, and select essential details. For me, a position that I will definitely come back to.
