Kolejne dwa tomy losów rodziny Neshov autorstwa Anne Ragde nie przyniosą rozczarowania fanom sagi. Napisane są płynnie, trzymają w napięciu i przede wszystkim – nie są wydumane, a naturalne.
Tom 4 Zawsze jest przebaczenie
Erend i Krumme wychowują trójkę swoich dzieci (Ellen, Nora i Leon), Tormod mieszka w domu opieki, Margido rozwija ornitologiczne pasje i męczy się z nowym niekompetentnym pracownikiem odpowiedzialnym za digitalizację w jego zakładzie pogrzebowym, a Torunn odkrywa, że jej chłopak Christer ją zdradza, i podejmuje błyskawiczną decyzję, by się od niego wyprowadzić, i jeszcze szybszą, by powrócić do Neshov i ponownie objąć gospodarstwo, tym razem już na dobre. To właśnie tej 40-latce przypada najwięcej miejsca w czwartym tomie sagi, a nestorka rodu, Anna, musi się chyba przewracać w grobie patrząc na rewolucyjne zmiany wprowadzone w gospodarstwie, oraz na psa Torunn, skradzionego Christerowi szczeniaka rasy husky, noszącego jej imię. Przedsiębiorcza dziewczyna dołącza do Margida i chce z jego zakładu pogrzebowego stworzyć rodzinny biznes.
Tom 5 Kochankowie
Tom piąty jest z kolei najmocniej skupiony na postaci Tormoda – możemy zajrzeć w zamknięty do tej pory świat najbardziej chyba pokrzywdzonego członka rodu Neshov, małomównego i wiecznie wycofanego staruszka. Tormod rozkwita w domu opieki, zaczyna zarządzać swoimi pieniędzmi i spełniać swoje skromne zachcianki. Torunn remontuje gospodarstwo, a Erlend i Krumme remontują dom odziedziczony po śmierci ojca Krumme, wielką 200-metrową willę. Przyjemnie się czyta o wykańczaniu wnętrz i dobrym jedzeniu u Erlenda i jego ukochanego. Jak zawsze, każdy tom oprószony jest porządną dawką smutku – tym razem umiera Margido, a Torun i Tormodowi świat usuwa się spod stóp.
Jak zawsze, odczuwam lekki niedosyt po kolejnych tomach sago rodu Neshov. To nie jest literatura na miarę Dostojewskiego czy Manna, ale ciepła proza dla odprężenia i zrelaksowania. Dobrze napisana, ze starannie naszkicowanymi postaciami, które są wiarygodne. Nie ma zbędnej koloryzacji, a tła i realiów jest akurat tyle, co trzeba. Tym bardziej więc czekam na kolejny, zapowiedziany już tom serii (i ponoć tym razem naprawdę ostatni) – Córkę. Mam nadzieję, że wkrótce wrócę do Ragde z kolejną recenzją.

The next two volumes on the Neshov family fate by Anne Ragde will not disappoint fans of the saga. They are written smoothly, they keep you in suspense and above all - they are not overcooked, but natural.
Volume 4 Always Forgiveness
Erend and Krumme raise their three children (Ellen, Nora and Leon), Tormod lives in a nursing home, Margido develops ornithological passions and struggles with a new incompetent digitization worker at his funeral home, and Torunn discovers that her boyfriend Christer is cheating on her, and makes a quick decision to move away from him, and even faster to return to Neshov and take over the farm again, this time for good. It is this 40-year-old woman who takes the most space in the fourth volume of the saga, and the family's senior, Anna, must probably turn over in her grave looking at the revolutionary changes made on the farm, and at the next Anna on the farm, the husky puppy that was stolen from Christer by her granddaughter. Torun joins Margido in his funeral business and wants to make it a family enterprise.
Volume 5 Honour Thy Father
The fifth volume is, in turn, most focused on the figure of Tormod - we can look into the so far closed world of probably the most aggrieved member of the Neshov family, a taciturn and eternally withdrawn old man. Tormod thrives in the nursing home, begins to manage his money and fulfill his humble whims. Torunn is renovating the farm, and Erlend and Krumme are renovating the house inherited after Krumme's father death, a large 200-meter villa. It is pleasant to read about interior decoration and good food in Erlend’s household. As always, each volume is sprinkled with a decent dose of sadness - this time Margido dies, and Torun’s and Tormod's worlds moves away from under their feet.
As always, I feel a bit unsatisfied after finishing next volumes of the Neshov saga. This is not literature as deep as Dostoevsky or Mann, but warm prose for relaxation. Well written, with carefully sketched characters that are believable. There is no unnecessary coloring, and the background and realities are just what you need. All the more so, I am waiting for the next, already announced volume of the series (and apparently this time really the last one) - Daughter. Hope to come back to Ragde’s writing soon with another review.
